Rijksmuseum Its one of the most famous landmark as well as museum of Amsterdam. It houses a large collection of magnificent work of Dutch masters and other well-known artists of 15th to 19th century as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Jan Steen and Frans Hals. Besides this it also demonstrate the sculpture, handicrafts, Dutch history and oriental art culture work. Van Gogh Museum- This museum was erected in 1973. It lies on the Museumplein in between Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum. A number of exhibitions are held here throughout the year. It contains a big collection of Paintings, drawings and letters of Vincent Van Goghs work. It is famous as the worlds biggest collection. Besides this it also encompasses the famous work of world famous artists as Monet, Pissaro, Gaugin, Delacroix and many more.
Stedelijk Museum This museum is well known as the modern art museum of Europe. Built in 1895, this museum comprises a number of galleries that consist of various facilities as library, auditorium, restaurant, museum shop and other. A large part of modern art collection is displayed here. Famous paintings of 19th and 20th century Dutch are displayed here that includes the work of Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Chagall and other. The sculpture work by Rodin, Moore, Visser and many more is also included here. Present art related to paintings, graphic design, applied arts, industrial design, new media, applied media and many more are often exhibited.
Rembrandts House- Famous as Rembrandthuis, this house has been opened for public since 1911. Etchings and drawings by famous artists are displayed here. The paintings by Rambrandts teachers as well as the pupils to whom he taught are the main attraction of the place. Many cultural activities of Amsterdam are also organized in this museum.
Amsterdams Historical Museum Also called Amsterdams Historisch Museum displays the history of Amsterdam through the various resources. These resources include various artworks such as paintings, sculptures, pictures, books, maps and articles. Many of them are also the famous and finest heirlooms of Amsterdam. It is situated in one of the orphanage in the former Amsterdam.
